Our restaurant is a few minutes by car from the now famous Teatro del Silenzio, an unique venue, set of many concerts promoted by the popular tenor Andrea Bocelli.
“The Teatro del Silenzio is an amphitheatre created following the natural shape of a hill located near Lajatico, in Pisa.
According to the original idea, the facility was designed to be assembled every year and to host just one yearly show (hence its name,Theatre of Silence). The construction consists of a circular “stage” with a radius of only a few metres in the centre of which there is a mighty sculpture portraying a human face, created by the Polish sculpture Igor Mitoraj for the scenography of a Manon Lescaut and then gifted by him to the theatre foundation.
Some granite blocks have been used in lieu of the stage foundation.
The structure is mobile and on days when the theater is not in operation it is completely dismantled and transformed into an artificial lake, hence the name “Theatre of Silence”, the location in the territory of the City of Lajatico, characterized by hills which, with the necessary earth-moving actions, has been created, or rather, feigned, as a natural Theatre”.
